Christmas 2017-18 "The Superior Singers Christmas Gospel Hour" An hour of gospel music and a cappella spirituals celebrating the birth of our Lord and honoring the memory of Ruthie Burnham 1944-2017 and her gospel upbringings. A spectacular CD opening with "Hark the Herald!" from 2009 when Ruthie first joined the group and "You Better Get Ready", a kicking gospel song that Ruthie led in 2010. A new rousing gospel song "The Glory Revealed" comes next and is followed by our first a cappella spiritual offering "We're Goin' Up to Bethlehem" - not to be missed. We don't let up as we deliver a fantastic southern gospel rock song "Don't Be Afraid" that is different than anything we've done in the past. The Motown tinged "Glory" welcomes the birth of our Lord, while the world asks "Have You Seen the Baby?" with an energetic a cappella spiritual. Next comes the most spectacular "Go Tell It on the Mountain" that you've ever heard! Two in a row honoring our Holy Mother - the contemplative "Mary Did You Know?" and followed by the barn burner spiritual "Mary Sat-a-Rockin'". A prayer in gospel fashioned is offered up, "All Night, All Day" and leads into our spiritual honoring the three Kings "Follow That Star". Patrick Reijo takes over as we bring the house down with "Oh, Happy Day" and take out this portion of the show with a gospel, funk version of the popular hymn "Joy to the World!" We send you home fulfilled with one of Ruthie's favorite songs, a gospel version of "Holy, Holy Night". One of our best CDs ever and will be a wonderful CD to add to your collection!
